GPT-6 Astra for Ad Creative: Build Different Concepts, Not Reworded Ads
Ask GPT-6 Astra for different visual mechanisms, compare three original organizer-ad concepts and turn the selected idea into a focused four-panel campaign.

Use GPT-6 Astra for ad creative by asking for different ways to make the same supported product benefit visible. Define the audience, the situation and the product evidence, then compare concepts by their visual mechanism. Changing a headline or background color can be a useful execution variant, but it does not automatically create a new advertising idea.
The practical deliverable is a short concept set you can choose from and produce. This guide adds a concept-selection step to the earlier Astra brief tutorial; it does not repeat its product-input checklist. All examples below are original fictional exercises, not campaign results.
Ask what happens in the image
An adjective such as “premium” describes a desired impression. A visual mechanism describes what the viewer sees that produces an idea: a transformation of the scene, a repeated object, a close-up demonstration, an unexpected scale relationship or a contrast between two everyday moments.
For our fictional Fold desk organizer, the supplied facts are three compartments and a removable divider. The audience is people sharing a compact desk between work and hobbies. There is no evidence of improved productivity, a time saving or a sales ranking.
| Concept | What the viewer sees | What makes it distinct |
|---|---|---|
| One desk, two modes | The same desk changes from work supplies to drawing tools | A transition between two uses |
| The divider does the talking | A close-up sequence shows the divider being moved | A visible product mechanism |
| A place for the small things | Objects gather into three clearly defined groups | A repeated arrangement and satisfying resolution |
These concepts share the same product facts. Their difference is how the image explains them. A blue version and a beige version of the first row would remain variations of that first concept.
Give Astra a diversity constraint
OpenAI's model guidance describes Astra working through multistep assignments and incorporating corrections. Apply that capability to an inspectable creative task: propose, distinguish and refine a small set of ideas. A model's explanation of why an ad might work is still a hypothesis.
Develop three distinct four-panel ad concepts for the fictional Fold desk organizer.
Facts: three compartments; a removable divider. Audience: people sharing one small desk between work and hobbies.
Keep those facts and that audience constant across all three concepts.
For each, give a one-sentence idea, the visible mechanism, four connected frames and one short CTA.
The concepts must differ in what happens, not just their wording, palette or art style.
Use supplied facts only. Identify any idea that needs evidence we do not have.
Then compare the concepts for clarity, product visibility and ease of producing the key visual.
Do not predict CTR, ROAS, sales or a winning concept.
Look for whether the product is essential to the idea. If you can substitute almost any unrelated object and keep the entire ad unchanged, the concept may be relying on atmosphere rather than the supplied benefit.
Select a concept using observable questions
Read each concept as a person who has never seen the brief. What is the product? What specific feature is being shown? Why is this situation recognizable for the intended audience? What should the viewer do next?
For the Fold exercise, the divider demonstration is attractive when the removable part is the most important distinction. The two-mode desk is attractive when the context needs explanation. The grouped objects work when the campaign needs a quick visual pattern. Those are creative judgments about communication, not a performance ranking.
Use a simple decision record rather than a fictional numerical score. Write “choose two-mode desk because both work and hobby objects are recognizable at a glance; retain divider close-up in panel two.” That note explains the choice and prevents the next revision from drifting into a different premise.
Make the four panels earn their space
A four-panel ad does not need four separate selling points. Give each panel a useful step in the selected idea. For the two-mode desk, the sequence could be: work items arrive, the divider is repositioned, drawing tools take their place, and the same organizer appears in a clean closing view.
If two panels make the same point, combine their job and use the freed panel to make the product mechanism clearer. Avoid a first panel filled with context that makes the product impossible to identify until the end.
The headline and CTA can be generated inside the full image. Request concise exact wording, then evaluate it as part of the composition. There is no requirement to rebuild the ad as separate text layers.
Produce and revise one selected idea
Paste the chosen concept into Panelly Studio with the product reference. Name the specific appearance to preserve: the organizer's outline, its three compartments and the removable divider. Add the intended light, illustration style and format after the visual idea is clear.
A revision should retain the selected premise. For example: “Keep the work-to-hobby sequence. Make the divider movement clearer in panel two. Retain the same organizer, camera direction, colors and closing wording.” Inspect the next image for both the requested improvement and any unexpected changes.
When you want a different concept, create a separately named version and keep its brief. This makes later testing easier to interpret. For measurement, use the separate creative testing guide and actual campaign data; the concept review itself cannot identify a winner.
FAQ
Is a new art style a new concept?
Usually it is a new execution of the same idea. It becomes a conceptual change when the style changes how the message is communicated, and you can explain that difference concretely.
Can Astra decide which ad will perform best?
It can help examine clarity and identify assumptions. Actual performance needs an appropriate campaign test and measured outcomes.
What if all three suggestions look alike?
Point out the repeated mechanism and request one different event or relationship. Keep the product facts fixed so creative diversity does not become invented product benefits.
Does this require Astra inside Panelly?
No. This is an external planning workflow. Bring the selected brief into Panelly to create and refine the finished four-panel ad.
