GPT Image 2.6 SVG Output: A Product Graphic Handoff Checklist
Product-ad workflow: Choose SVG when the next person needs to adjust vector paths, shapes or colors. GPT Image 2.6's documented SVG generation is a different deliverable from a raster product photograph, and it does not make an existing advertisement automatically editable.

Choose SVG when the next person needs to adjust vector paths, shapes or colors. GPT Image 2.6's documented SVG generation is a different deliverable from a raster product photograph, and it does not make an existing advertisement automatically editable.
This guide uses a fictional refill-kit icon to explain what to request and what to inspect. It is an unexecuted editorial example: no SVG was generated or accepted. Panelly's current workflow has not integrated 2.6 SVG generation or export.
Define the vector deliverable before writing the prompt
For the fictional kit, a designer needs a simple illustration of one pouch beside one bottle. The drawing should remain a graphic, not a photograph claiming to show the actual package. The task is to produce reusable shapes, not a complete printable label or a technical assembly diagram.
Record the intended use, required objects, excluded wording and recipient's editing needs. If the real task is a photograph of a supplied bundle, reuse the bundle-photography guide. A file-format keyword is not a reason to replace that existing task with a new promise.
Use the generation contract, not the edit endpoint
The official guide places SVG on the generations endpoint with output_format set to svg and n set to 1. It excludes SVG output from the edit endpoint. It also excludes streaming, partial images, output compression and prompt_rewriter for this format.
The documented process creates a reference image before authoring the SVG; quality controls that reference. The finished result is base64-encoded UTF-8 XML containing static vector content. It is not a guarantee of clean object naming, ideal path grouping, brand approval or manufacturing accuracy.

The following is an original, unexecuted request:
Create a simple static vector illustration of one refill pouch beside one reusable bottle for a fictional product explainer. Separate the two objects clearly with editable shapes and a restrained two-color palette. No logos, text, measurements, environmental claims, technical cut lines, embedded photographs or decorative objects. Treat this as a conceptual icon, not an accurate product specification.
Replace the invented visual assumptions before using the asset for a real product. “Reusable” in a fictional illustration is not evidence about an actual bottle's service life. Inspect any compatibility or environmental wording separately instead of allowing the graphic to imply an unsupported benefit.
Inspect the actual file before accepting the handoff
Check that the result is SVG/XML and that an editor can select useful paths and colors. A PNG renamed with an SVG suffix is still raster data. Inspect small-size legibility, missing shapes, unintended symbols and edge artifacts. Confirm what the file actually contains, not only how a browser thumbnail looks.
OpenAI describes static output without scripts, external resources or embedded raster images. An application importing externally supplied vector files should still treat the XML as untrusted and validate it before preview. A model's output description is not a replacement for an import boundary. Vector does not mean print-ready: dielines, bleed, separations and production tolerances are separate requirements.
Keep today's Panelly output labeled as raster
Use the Brief builder to specify actual product contents and approved wording for a static campaign. Bring the reviewed facts and an authorized reference to the four-panel Studio task. That creates a static-ad workflow with the models and costs currently shown, not the native SVG job above.
The image resizer changes raster dimensions or framing; the compressor compares JPEG/WebP bytes. Neither creates vector paths. Keep a conceptual icon, the actual product photograph and the complete ad as separately labeled assets. The useful handoff is a verified file with a clear role, not a vector badge attached to an unexamined image.
